As we mature spiritually there is less need to have our self-respect bolstered by praise and special attention. As our thought processes become more compassionate and less self-obsessed, we feel increasingly satisfied with ourselves and or lives. We relate to people more easily and feel no need to draw attention to our successes or complain about our problems.
Everyone wants to be loved for who they are. When we appreciate others fully it boosts their self-esteem and helps them pass on a loving attitude to others. Even though we may not see the results immediately; love always works.
Great souls take advantage of every moment and every opportunity to give happiness to others through kindness in their thoughts; such souls are willing to overlook weaknesses and mistakes and have the desire to help everyone reach their potential.
If at any time we begin to lose hope in ourselves, let us simply look inside out hearts and see all the good actions we have performed, from the smallest to the grandest. When we see how much happiness we have given, we easily remember the purpose of our life.
An innocent heart is of great benefit to the self. Rediscovering our innocence allows us to re-experience the wonder of a child, to let go of cynicism and appreciate the simple things in life.
To be impartial is to be independent and uninfluenced, to remain the master, true to our higher self and our original qualities of serenity, love and joy. We are unaffected by changing circumstances and other people's negativity. Chaos always subsides, bad moods pass. With a loving and positive attitude, we align ourselves with that which is true and eternal and then all problems can be resolved.
Humility grows a little more each time we step away from our own feelings and opinions and genuinely listen to the experience of another human being. Humility is dedication to the extent that no acknowledgement is sought for the self. Only when we have learned to value others no more no less that we value ourselves can we be said to be truly humble.
Without enthusiasm life becomes a dry and tasteless experience. Anyone can become enthusiastic for a little while but to keep enthusiasm steadily flowing through our life is a great art. The secret is remarkably simple; live in a state of appreciation; appreciate the special qualities within everyone; appreciate the wonder of nature and give thanks to the cycle of life and everyone's contribution to it. Enthusiasm is infectious, especially when it is based on an appreciation of, and love for life itself.

Non-violence is a very deep philosophy. Not only does it require us to harm no one physically, but also avoid harming anyone's self-respect. Such an ethic requires tremendous awareness and sensitivity. When we have learned to be gentle with ourselves, we can be the same with others.
Lack of spiritual strength makes me susceptible to the negative energy of others. By choosing to be spiritually awake we release a benevolent energy that can transform the negative into positive. Through our mind we become a natural and constant donor.
If we pursue status and position in life, we may have to kill our conscience in the process. If we choose to gain at the expense of others, we will stop respecting and loving ourselves. In fact, it is the extent to which we truly serve others selflessly and strive to make our motives pure that will elevate us in others eyes.
Determination is an essential quality to nurture if we are to continue on our spiritual journey. No matter how much enthusiasm we have or how clear our aim is, without determination we will give up sooner or later. In times of challenge, we take care that determination does not lead to stubbornness; then we can let go off resistance and not oppose anyone or anything with our mind. Instead, we take time for meditation, reflect on the most compassionate way to deal with situation, and quietly wait for an approach to present itself.
Acts of virtue emerge from deep within, from an inner sanctuary of silence from which inspiration flows. Every action has its seed in a thought and every thought is a creation of the thinker, the soul. We choose what thoughts we want to create and as is our thinking so are our actions and also our experience of life. Going within, we touch the stillness and pure love that lie at the core of our being and every thought we create is of benefit to ourselves and of benefit to humanity.

The highest discipline is to live by the values that are dearest to us. To do so we may have to sacrifice something, for example, praise, money or status. However, the rewards are enormous : self-respect, self-confidence and an ability to face adversity with courage and optimism.
One of the highest forms of courage is the ability to face our own negativity without feeling guilty or bad about ourselves, and then taking responsibility for changing it. We must first make contact with our deepest spiritual core. Reflecting on the things we care about most gives us a glimpse of our innate goodness. Building on this, God will, if we let Him, gently reveal in us a caring and compassionate nature that can even be described as divine. The courage to let go of unwanted thoughts and feelings will develop when we accept that our higher, divine self is not separate from us, but lies at the very heart of who I am.

Cooperation is based on faith, love and trust. It is a power that comes when there is love for both the task and the special part each plays on bringing it to a completion. Real cooperation takes place when there are good wishes and pure feelings for each other. To cooperate with God in His task is the greatest achievement.
